Booking & Policies
What's your cancellation policy?
Full refund up to 30 days before your arrival date. After that, the booking is non-refundable.
Is there a security deposit?
Yes — a $500 refundable hold. It's released after check-out, assuming the cottage is left as you found it.
How do I pay?
Full payment is processed securely through Stripe at the time of booking. We accept all major credit cards.
What's the minimum stay?
3 nights minimum. Longer stays welcome — and often eligible for a multi-night discount, just ask.
Are there extra fees?
Fees are all itemized and disclosed at time of booking for extra guests, children and pets as well as taxes. We reserve the right to withhold any amounts for damages and additional cleaning fees as reported by the turnover crew. Pictures and assessment will be provided with invoice.
Check-in & The Stay
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in 4:00 PM · Check-out 10:00 AM. It's self check-in with a code we'll send the day before — no waiting around.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes — high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the cottage. Strong enough for remote work, streaming, and the whole family being online at once.
How many bedrooms and what are the sleeping arrangements?
Five bedrooms across the cottage — sleeps up to 12. The setup includes a master bed with attached spa ensuite, walk in closet and laundry, queen and double rooms, and a tipi perfect for kids. Linens and towels included.
Are pets and kids welcome?
Both. We have two pets max ($100/pet/night) and children of any age are welcome — we have a crib available on request and the lake has a gentle entry that's great for little ones.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes — the cottage is fully climate-controlled. Heated for shoulder seasons and cooled in summer.
What's in the kitchen?
Chef's kitchen with Frigidaire Pro appliances, fully stocked: coffee maker, espresso, blender, dishwasher, full cookware and dishes for 12. Bring groceries and you're set.
Location & The Lake
Where exactly is the cottage?
Doe Lake, Gravenhurst, Ontario. About 2 hours from downtown Toronto. We send the exact address and driving directions after booking.
Can we bring a boat?
Yes — we have a private dock that fits a small motorboat or two kayaks/SUPs. Boat launch is a 5-minute drive away.
How many cars can we park?
Up to 6 cars on the property. Plenty of room for a full house.
Is the lake swimmable for kids?
Yes — Doe Lake has a gentle, sandy entry off our beach. Great for swimming, paddling, and floating around. Lifejackets available in the shed.
What's nearby for groceries and dining?
A full grocery store and the LCBO are 10 minutes away in Gravenhurst. Several local restaurants in town including waterfront dining at the Wharf.
What activities are available?
Swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing (bring rods), bonfires at the fire pit, stargazing, and kayak tours. Hiking trails start at a 5-minute walk from the cottage. Skiing in winter at Hidden Valley.
